Join us for two more International Kylt Trainings in 2019

The International Kylt Training is due for the sixth installment already in April of 2019. And we have the seventh scheduled for September already as well.

We are looking forward to again welcome our customers and soon-to-be customers to our premises in Germany.

The 6th International Kylt Training will take place in our Headquarter in Höltinghausen/Germany on the 2nd and 3rd of April 2019.

The 7th International Kylt Training will be held in on the 3rd and 4th of September 2019.

We will introduce you to the advantages of Real-Time PCR for veterinary diagnostics including:

  • How to take samples

  • How to purify RNA and DNA for subsequent qPCR.

  • PCR Setup and analysis of the results.

  • Troubleshooting

  • How to set up you PCR laboratory

  • Practical Lab work, extract your own samples and set up your PCR-reaction.

Of course, we'll provide food and drinks during the training and we'll organize evening activities as well.

New Application Note for Kylt in International Proficiency Testing Schemes
Results from several international ring trials proove the quality of Kylt Products

The AniCon laboratory offers accredited service veterinary diagnostics to customers around the world. We routinely use our Kylt®-products in our own high-throughput processes. Together with Macherey-Nagel, we have used data from several international proficiency testing schemes to compile an Application Note.

For the Application Note, we used data generated in 2017 with international Proficiency Testing Schemes organized by GD Animal Health.
We have generated results that were correct in all cases. There were neither false-positive nor false-negative results. Compared to other labs, our sensitivity was generally above the average reported.
This proves our system to be highly effective and reliable.

The following products were used for this Application Note

Kylt makes your lab-life easier

August 1st 2018 marks an important date in the Kylt® Calendar. We have made considerable improvements to simplify your routine in the lab!

Universal Temperature Profile
Real-Time PCR and Real-Time RT-PCR can be run simultaneously using Profile I.

Universal PCR-Setup

All reactions are set up with 16µL Master Mix and 4µL sample.

DNA Extraction-Mix II is removed

Purchase only what you need. Extract your samples any way you like.

Universal Temperature Profiles for qPCR and RT-qPCR Assays

  • Two universal temperature profiles for all Kylt® Real-Time Detection products*
  • Profile I for Kylt® RT-qPCR e.g. Kylt® Influenza A and for Kylt® qPCR e.g. Kylt® MGS Triplex, if you would like to combine RT-qPCR and qPCR runs.
  • The (current) Profile II can still be used with Kylt® qPCR Detection Kits if no Reverse Transcription step is needed.
* For details of temperature profiles, please refer to the Direction For Use. There are two exceptions: Kylt® RT-qPCR for detection of different IB-Variants and Kylt® IBDV Serotype I run in a slightly different temperature profile and thus can not be combined with further Kylt® (RT-) qPCRs.

Universal Reaction Setup 16+4

  • 16 μl Master-Mix + 4 μl DNA or RNA
  • To make the reaction setup as easy as possible we have adjusted the volumes of Master-Mix and final RNA/DNA preparations for the RT-qPCR and qPCR assays. Both assay types are now set up with 16 μl of Master-Mix plus 4 μl of DNA or RNA, respectively.

Kylt® DNA Extraction-Mix II

  • Kylt® DNA Extraction-Mix II will be removed from (Real-Time) PCR Detection Kits
  • The Mix is available separately (Kylt® DNA Extraction-Mix II, Art. No. 31398 for 100 reactions).
  • The Kylt® (Real-Time) PCR Detection products will replace our Kylt® DNA Extraction and (Real-Time) PCR Detection; the article numbers will stay the same, so you can use the order numbers as you are accustomed to.
  • As an alternative you can use the Kylt® RNA / DNA Purification Kit (Art. No. 31314/31315 for 5x50/50 reactions). This spin column-based kit allows simultaneous purification of RNA and DNA from a broad range of veterinary samples, like swabs, feces or blood.

Our First International Kylt Training was a success
We are ready to do it again in the spring of 2018
We were excited to welcome eight participants from five different countries at our facilities in Höltinghausen, Germany.

Our training was an introductory-level course, providing theoretical background information as well as extensive practical hands-on lab work. We are happy to have received lots of positive feedback from the participants!
During our two-day training session, attendees gained insights into PCR-based veterinary diagnostics, covering the basic principles of Real-Time-PCR all the way through to data-analysis and troubleshooting.

In two hands-on sessions in the laboratory, the participants prepared the samples themselves, purified RNA and DNA and set up the PCR reactions as well. Of course, the active support of the Kylt® Team was available at all times!

In short, they are now able to use our Kylt® products to optimally suit their diagnostic needs.

It was a great opportunity to be in personal contact for all sides. This helps us at Kylt® to better assess the individual requirements and needs for support.

For the participants, of course, the exchange with colleagues from other laboratories also was a welcome change to daily laboratory routine. As this is often easier in a relaxed atmosphere with good food and beverages, we also organized social events for all participants.

For us, organizing and conducting our first training has been an exciting and labour-intensive time, but we all agree: It was definitely worth it!

We look forward to the second International Kylt® Training, again taking place in Höltinghausen, Germany on 28th February & 01st March 2018!

We'd like to welcome you, so if you are interested, please let us know by sending an e-mail to fuehrs(at)kylt.eu
